Meet the Artist – A Story Eight Years in the Making
Some collections begin with a purchase. This one began with a chance encounter that took eight years to complete.
On my very first trip to Thailand, I wandered through the seemingly endless pathways of Bangkok's famous Chatuchak Market. Among thousands of stalls selling every imaginable item, I wasn't looking for souvenirs—I was searching for artists whose work reflected genuine craftsmanship and a distinctive point of view.
Then I found them.
Hidden in a small corner of the market was a husband-and-wife jewelry studio whose designs immediately stood apart. Their work was modern yet unmistakably rooted in traditional Thai craftsmanship. Clean lines, sculptural forms, thoughtfully chosen gemstones, and an unmistakable artistic signature made every piece feel like wearable art.
I left with several of their creations, never imagining that they would become part of a much longer story.
When I returned to Bangkok in 2022, I was determined to find them again - their studio was gone.
I searched several times during my visit, and subsequent ones, hoping they had simply moved, ir I missed them in that massive market, but every search ended the same way. Eventually, I returned home believing I might never see them again.
Three years later, while exploring a quiet market outside Chiang Mai—hundreds of miles from where we first met; I spotted a familiar design from across the aisle. It was one of their earrings.
When I looked up, there they were. To my surprise, they recognized me just as quickly as I recognized them.
They had temporarily left Bangkok for the mountains of northern Thailand. Instead, they discovered something unexpected. They fell in love with Chiang Mai, embraced its slower pace of life, and decided to build their future there.
Sometimes the places we never planned to stay become the places we were meant to find.
That same spirit of resilience is reflected throughout their work. Every necklace, bracelet, and pair of earrings is handcrafted with patience, precision, and an artist's eye for balance and form. Their jewelry blends contemporary design with traditional Thai craftsmanship, creating pieces that feel modern, sculptural, and deeply personal.
At Sundara Joon, we believe the story behind a piece is as meaningful as the piece itself. This collection represents more than exceptional craftsmanship—it celebrates perseverance, creativity, and the enduring friendship that grew from a chance meeting in one of the world's largest markets.
Today, their jewelry feels even more meaningful than when I first discovered it.

From LouAnn's Journal
"I still remember seeing their earrings from across the market. Before I could even make out their faces, I knew it was their work. That's when I realized truly distinctive design has a signature all its own."
